And Finally... Scaffold Built!

Happy Easter to all!  We can't thank God enough for this wonderful day that Jesus died on the cross and rose again more than 2,000 years ago, that we may have victorious eternal life now!

This week on Wednesday, we noticed all the rusty metals and wood got delivered.  On Thursday afternoon, there was no sign of getting scaffold setup.  Being Easter Good Friday the next day, we didn't expect anywork to be done till after Easter Monday. Surprisingly, today we arrived onsite and to our surprise, the scaffold has been setup!!  We're still puzzled about the time the scaffold were built.....We were there Thursday 2:30pm, nothing was done, then by 1pm on Good Friday, the scaffold was completed....hmhmhm, very interesting and impressive. But praise God! Must be a miracle :-)

If you were there to see the scaffold, you wouldn't believe the whole thing only took one day to build....Amazing!

And look at our house now, can you believe that it's only 2 months of work done?  That's the good thing about getting a volume builder to build your house.  With a custom or smaller builder, this at least would have taken 4-5 months......................

Wow... Plaster Board Already?

While the brick work continued externally, we were surprised to see some rather large deliveries inside. And guess what they were? Plaster boards and Cornices. Wow... that's early. Does that mean they will start plastering so soon? Brick work to the first floor has not yet been completed. Hmm... have to give our SS a call tomorrow morning.

Another piece of work done was the installation of the range hood exhaust duct. This will be vented out through the laundry.

Garage Taking Shape

Friday must have been a short day for the tradies. We saw them onsite early in the morning and few hours later they were gone....

Bricking Day 7

Progress has been continuing, front porch pillar has been bricked in. It's looking great. Elsewhere shorter scaffold has been setup to enable the bricklayers to brick to a medium height. So far 2/3 of the house has been done.

Brick work has also started on the garage, door frame has been delivered and held in place.

Upstairs Windows & Sliding Door Fixed

Combining yesterday and today's post in one. Work is progressing at a good pace, so far quality has been good, I won't say fantastic. I can spot few places where the mortar width is slightly smaller or wider at places, may be it's within the tolerances?

The house is looking good for now. It does look a bit "dirty" so hopefully will look brighter after their acid wash.

The upstairs windows have also been installed. Framing guys must have been onsite early.

Bedroom 2, next to Master Bedroom, has the only window with spotswood glazing to stop us looking onto our neighbours. Not that I wanted it, but regulation said so.......

As I continued walking inside, I was surprised and glad to see that they have replaced the sliding door with the correct opening. Thumbs up PD and our SS for getting this actioned quickly.

Bricking Day 4 & Electricals

Brick work has been progressing smoothly, thank God for the sunny weather so far.

What a surprise to see that the electrician has been onsite and started cabling the house. Multi coloured cables can be seen. I have not selected Cat5 cabling, so quite surprised to see the blue cables laid out. Wonder what is that for?

Bricking Day 2

And the bricking continues today. Brick work completed along the laundry, theatre, back and alfresco side of the house.

Brick work along the back
As I keep walking and checking on the quality of the work, I was horrified to noticed that they have started bricking around the sliding door. As I mentioned in an earlier post, the sliding door that was delivered and installed slide open the wrong way. I wonder how they are going to remove the door without damaging the bricks.... note to self to contact the SS first thing in the morning.

We selected a flush joints style for the mortar as it will give a neat finish and will flush well with the bricks. I believe it will be easier to clean the surface of the bricks in the future as there will be no cavity (other mortar style) that can gather dusts.

And the bricking starts....

Day 1 of the start of brick laying, exciting stuff to see the brickies on site bright and early.

Bricklayer started bricking from the front with the cloak room and alongside the powder room side wall facing into the garage.

Decided to check out the workmanship and skill of the bricklayers. So far the quality has been good, mortar spacing consistent enough, however noticed some vertical gaps between the bricks were not evenly spaced, so will make a mental note to mention to SS.

Bricks delivery

It was a "quiet" day on Friday and Monday was a public holiday.

Today there were 15 pallets of bricks delivered, as well as sand and brick layers gears.

From the looks of it I think the brick layer will be onsite tomorrow.....

As I walked around to the pallets of bricks, I was a bit worried and excited at the same time to see the colour of the bricks, so pulled out a few out of a pallet and laid them on top. From the looks of it the colour looks great.

Our house has a hat!

Like what we anticipated, today the roof tilers came to work on the roof tiles.  4 workers started working from 8'sh in the morning, till 4pm in the afternoon, guess what?  They've finished almost all the job, except for some touch up and garage (which they need to wait till the bricks of the garage are done).  We thought they will spend at least 2-3 days for the job, but they got it done in a day.

We're guessing who will be coming next......hmhm, hopefully brick layers?  But the bricks are not delivered yet.... We'll keep you updated!
